Called to Connect: Pilgrims of Hope
As we prepare for this upcoming Holy Year, I want to share with you some reflections on the significance of this Jubilee Year: “Pilgrims of Hope”. The Holy Father has called us to “fan the flame of hope that has been given us” and to help others “gain new strength and certainty by looking to the future with an open spirit, a trusting heart and far-sighted vision.”
This theme underscores the commitment we have made in our own diocese to look forward after facing the challenge of pastoral planning to embrace our future with trust and faith. As we unite during this sacred time, may our hearts be opened to the graces and blessings of this extraordinary celebration. Whether you are making a pilgrimage to Rome or encountering the Lord in your local community, let us honor this Holy Year with a renewed sense of mission and hope.
Sincerely yours in Christ,

The Most Rev. Lawrence T. Persico, JCL
A Jubilee, or "Holy Year," is a special time in the Catholic Church to renew our relationship with God, others and creation. The first Jubilee was declared in 1300 by Pope Boniface VIII as a year of spiritual transformation.
Letter from Pope Francis
As we gather to celebrate this sacred year, we extend an invitation to explore the themes of reconciliation, unity and renewal, connecting with pilgrims from around the world.
Let this year be a beacon of hope and a source of inspiration, as we open our hearts to the grace and blessings bestowed upon us.
